For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of Holy Communion (First Sunday of Advent)

This coming Sunday, the First Sunday of Advent, we gather together for worship at 10:30 am and will share Holy Communion.

Advent is a season when we look forward to celebrating Jesus’ birth at Christmas, but also to his Kingdom coming into our world to transform it.

Our Bible readings this Sunday capture these things: Isaiah 2:1-5 (a vision of the mountain of the Lord, a sign of the peaceful kingdom to come); Romans 13:11-14 (living God-inspired lives in anticipation of the Lord’s salvation); and Matthew 24:36-44 (where Jesus encourages his disciples to keep looking forward for the Lord’s coming).

Our friend, the Revd Michael Ayodeji will preach! And we will also offer an activity for our youngest members.

So much to look forward too, in so many senses!

Blessings and see you soon!
