For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of the Word, 1st Sunday after Trinity

This Sunday we gather to celebrate and share a Service of the Word together at 10:30 am.

Our readings will be from Hosea 5:15-6:6 (where the Lord needed to bring rebuke in order to bring healing, and encourages his people that our faith is primarily about love and mercy and familiarity with and knowledge of God, not just going through the motions!) and Matthew 9:9-13,18-26 (where Jesus calls Matthew, of all people, to follow him, but also quotes Hosea 6, and significantly heals both a synagogue leader’s daughter and an outcast bleeding woman in great need). Both passages ask us to look anew at the work of God, especially in Christ, and see our relationship with God and others differently and more supportively.

During the service, for our youngest members, we’ll offer a children’s activity too, and afterwards, we will enjoy coffee and tea together.

We hope you can join us!
