For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of the Word, 5th Sunday after Trinity

This coming Sunday we share a Service of the Word together at 10:30 am.

Our readings are from Zechariah 9:9-12 (which prophecies the Lord’s coming, but in a humble way, that brings encouragement and anticipates Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem) and Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30 (where Jesus challenges the unfair expectations of the culture, and points to his loving relationship with God, which he hopes will open others to how they should connect to God, as this will lighten their burdens and reduce the stress that the world around them imposes). Jesus confronts unhealthy expectations of the world, and points us to the gracious and merciful gifts of God instead, which are far better, peace-giving expectations to have faith in!

During the service, for our youngest members, we offer a children’s activity too, and afterwards, we enjoy coffee and tea together.

We do hope you can join us, and look forward to seeing you!
