This coming Sunday (November 23), we share a Service of Holy Communion together on this Last Sunday before Advent, which is also known as Christ the King Sunday.
Our main reading is from the Gospel of Luke 23:33-43, where, suffering on the cross, Jesus shows his gracious love and forgiveness. A fellow victim of crucifixion asks for Jesus to remember him when he comes into his kingdom, and he does. Jesus’ compassion in his and others’ pain is exceptional, and his shepherding us towards new life is wondrous. The other reading is from the letter to the Colossians 1:11-20 (how Christ, who descended and was killed, ascended to the greatest, and, through his blood, brought reconciliation and peace, between God and humanity), which also gives us and its original recipients the big picture of God’s plan of salvation and restoration.
In our challenges, these passages reveal the Good News of the Kingdom of God, for which we are grateful, and faithfully hopeful!
We will offer a children’s activity during the service, and after worship, we will share coffee, tea and fellowship together.
All welcome, and we very much look forward to being with you this Sunday!
