For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Groningen cycling group was started after a conversation over coffee between Sam and Derek. Being a keen cyclist, Derek wanted to know if there would be any interest in setting up a cycling group, the idea being to not only explore the surrounding countryside, but target visiting the historic churches in the area.
After Sam handed over a five volume collection of cycle routes: Groninger Kerken Op De Fiets (all in Dutch) and receiving translation help from Hilke, (Derek’s fiancée), we plotted a series of routes.

A small group set off on our first ride in March and at a length of just 32 km the ride was taken at a steady pace. It was a great success (you can see the images in the gallery, on the right) and we look forward to many more.

Cycle Ride to Midwolde  –  Our first outing.

For those of you who would like to come on a future ride but have no bike: there is an opportunity to rent a decent bike at nearby bicycle parking. The pace of our rides will be comfortable: don’t worry, it’s no race.

Please contact Derek for more details or to let him know you’re coming.
