For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of the Word (1st Sunday after Epiphany)

Happy New Year and hope you are all enjoying (and managing) the wintry weather!

This coming Sunday, the first after Epiphany, is the celebration of Jesus’ own baptism, which is also a wonderful way to open the year ahead, as it was an important and guiding moment for all of us.

Our Bible readings are from Isaiah 42:1-9 (where the prophet foretells about the true Servant of the Lord, who, filled with the Spirit, will persevere to bring healing, justice and light) and Matthew 3:13-17 (Matthew’s account of the baptism of Jesus, where John the Baptist felt humbled but consented, and then the Spirit of God descends on and affirms Christ as His beloved Son). These are hopeful and spiritually refreshing readings that also remind us of God’s Kingdom and its calling for all of us.

And we will also offer an activity for our youngest members, and will share fellowship with warm coffee, tea, etc. after the service.

We look forward to welcoming and worshipping with you!
