For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of the Word (Racial Justice Sunday, 2nd bef Lent)

This Sunday (February 8th), we have a special Service of the Word for Racial Justice Sunday, commemorated throughout the Church of England for more than 30 years and which remains a very important theme today.

We are thankful that the Revd Pat Jackson, Director of Interwoven Congregations, will preach and teach us on this crucial subject.

Our Scripture readings for this Sunday are Isaiah 58:1-14, which notes that God chooses to loose the bonds of injustice and to break every yoke, and Luke 4:16-21, where Jesus proclaims ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me’ to bring justice and compassion to the world.

During the service, we’ll also offer a children’s activity, and after worship, we will of course share coffee, tea and fellowship together.

All are most welcome, and we look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday!
