This Sunday we gather to celebrate and share Holy Communion together at 10:30 am.
As we continue to follow Matthew’s Gospel, our reading is Matthew 21:23-32, where Jesus, having just re-entered Jerusalem and cleared the sellers from the Temple courts, is questioned about his authority. He asks his critics about his cousin John the Baptist’s mission, and they refuse to say how they felt about it. So he then teaches them the Parable of the Two Sons, where one says ‘no’ but eventually still serves, while the other says he will, but does not. Jesus is challenging his critics about their sincerity and the genuinely lived nature of faith.
And our reading from Philippians 2:1-13 contains that wonderful reflection on Christ’s humility to come among us, but also his extraordinary perseverance and commitment to live and die for us.
Both these readings help us to reflect on what living our faith needs to mean for us and for others, following Jesus’ humble example and wonderful way.
During the service, for our youngest members, we’ll offer a children’s activity too, and afterwards, we will enjoy coffee and tea together.
