For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of Holy Communion (3rd Sunday after Epiphany)

This Sunday (January 25), we gather for a Service of Holy Communion on the 3rd Sunday after Epiphany.

Our main Gospel reading is from Matthew 4:12-23, which is an important transforming moment in his mission. Given John the Baptist’s arrest, Jesus seeks new places and people — in Galilee, in Zebulun and Naphtali. This choice is a fulfillment of the Isaiah 9:1-4 reading, which we also have, but in a bigger way that Isaiah envisioned. Jesus calls fishermen to Him to help Him fish for people, and they do. So our readings speak a lot to God’s new and broader mission, but also seeing and sharing light in dark times.

We will offer a children’s activity during the service, and after worship, we will share coffee, tea and fellowship together.

All welcome, and we very much look forward to being with you this Sunday!
