Grace Service of Morning Prayer (Remembrance Sunday)
On Sunday, November 9th, we gather again for worship at 10:30am.
In addition to it being the 3rd Sunday before Advent, November 9th is Remembrance Sunday, when we honor all those who have lost their lives in conflict, and also when we remember and light candles for beloved friends and family members who have passed away in this or in recent years.
If you would like to have someone commemorated in the service, please do send the Chaplain their full name (first and last names), by November 8th if possible (though names can be added in person, on the day, of course). You may send the names by e-mail to chaplaingracechurchgn@gmail.com.
Our readings for Remembrance Sunday this year are from Job 19:23-27a (Job’s well-known affirmation that he knows his Redeemer lives); 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5,13-17 (Paul’s comfort for his friends in difficulty, not to be deceived but to remain true to God’s teaching and to have strength in Him); and Luke 20:27-38 (Jesus is challenged by Sadducee critics about resurrection life, but insists, citing Scripture, that God is the God of the living, for in Him are all the faithful alive). These give us comfort and hope!
During the service we will offer an activity for our youngest members, and after the service we will share coffee, tea and fellowship. We wish you well and look forward to being with you for this important Sunday!
