This coming Sunday (March 9), is the first Sunday in the season of Lent, an annual time of prayer and reflection to refocus us on our need for God’s care and to serve God in His mission to heal the world.
To open this season, in Luke 4:1-13, we recall Jesus’ own time of struggle without food in the wilderness, followed by his being tempted by the devil in challenging ways. Yet he persisted, resisted and persevered, with a sustaining and courageous faith in His loving Father. A shining example to us all!
And we will also hear Paul’s comforting words that God is always nearer than we realize, and, as he did with Christ, will lift up all who truly believe and confess his salvation (Romans 10:8b-13). So, despite what Jesus faced, and our own troubling times, God gets us through.
During the service, we hope to offer a children’s activity, and afterwards, we also welcome all to share coffee, tea and fellowship together.
We welcome you, and look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday!
