For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of Holy Communion (3rd Sunday of Lent)

This coming Sunday (23 March) we share a Communion Service together, followed by a bring-and-share lunch/snack time and our Annual Meeting.

Our readings for this 3rd Sunday of Lent are Isaiah 55:1-9 (the promise to the people of the new covenant, despite the exile they live in, but also a call to seek the Lord and follow Him!) and Luke 13:1-9 (where Jesus responds to questions about victims of persecution and the fall of a tower, wanting his hearers not to judge people who suffer, but instead repent of their own sinful ways, and bear fruit of good for the Lord instead; God here, too, gives a second chance, in Jesus’ parable of the fig tree). God’s promise of salvation is central, but also our calling not to judge others but to change and genuinely to seek and serve God, to have God turn our lives toward His Way, so we bear good fruit.

We will also to offer a children’s activity during the service, and afterwards will share coffee, tea, food and fellowship together before our Annual Meeting begins at around 12:30.

All welcome, and we very much look forward to being with you this Sunday!
