For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of the Word (9th Sunday after Trinity)

This Sunday we resume worship after our brief summer break!

For our Service of the Word this 9th Sunday after Trinity, our main Bible readings are from Hebrews 11:29-12:2 and Luke 12:49-56. The Hebrews passage recalls heroes of the faith who persevered through difficult circumstances thanks to their trust in God’s promises — and Jesus is held up as the pioneer and perfecter of our faith! The reading from Luke reinforces this, as Jesus himself reminds his disciples that his own mission will not go unchallenged, nor will it be easy. But he is absolutely committed to it, even if those around him disagree and may not want to understand him or signs of the Kingdom. He recognizes therefore that his work will not always bring peace and agreement, even if that is its goal, so he continues in his work. Both passages are testing, but attest to the value of truly faithful living, even and especially in hard times.

We hope you can us this Sunday at 10:30 for worship, prayer, praise and fellowship afterwards! And we will also have an activity for our youngest members. 🙂

This Sunday we will not be able to offer a livestream, but we hope you can join us in person!

Blessings and until soon!
