For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Service of the Word (4th Sunday of the Month)

Grace Service of the Word

This Sunday, October 25th, we gather for worship at 10:30am, but will also provide a livestream (details below).

Our readings for this Sunday, the Last after Trinity (Bible Sunday), a day where we give special thanks for God’s word to us in Holy Scripture, are from Nehemiah 8:1-4a, 8-12 (when Ezra reads the Book of the Law of Moses to the people, which comforts and encourages them); Psalm 119:9-16; and Colossians 3:12-17 (in which Paul inspires fellow believers to live lives enlivened by Christ!).

We are privileged this Sunday to have the Revd Dr Drew Longacre preach!

We welcome you to join us in person, and we shall continue to do our best to ensure everyone’s health and safety in the current conditions.  (If you are feeling sick, please do stay home, and enjoy our livestream [details below]; we’ll keep you in our prayers.)

In the church building, we now adhere to a 30-person-limit.  So roughly 25 worshippers, and 5 people staffing (those welcoming, leading, playing music, and preaching).  All attendees over the age of 12 need wear face coverings.  (You may bring your own, but we will also certainly provide them on the day for any and all who need them.)  Though we can enjoy beautiful worship music, we are not to sing along.  During worship and afterwards, we maintain social distancing, and we depart the building in an orderly fashion immediately after the service.

If you would like to attend, and to guarantee a space, please request a place before Saturday, October 24th.

Please do so by:

1) responding with ‘Going’ to this Facebook event invitation, or

2) sending a message via email to chaplaingracechurchgn@gmail.com

If you plan to come with others, please do let us know precisely how many.

If you cannot attend, for health or other reasons, we will plan to livestream the service in our Grace Church Groningen Facebook group and also post a recording of it afterwards on our Grace Church YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVa4IiKGWhIsV61Xktuxcog

Please note:

  • We will not have Junior Church during the service this Sunday morning, but will be offering a separate worship activity for children in the church building at 14:30 on Sunday afternoon! See the Grace Church Facebook Group for further details.
  • Unfortunately, there can be no coffee/tea time after the service in the building itself.

We look forward to worshipping you this Sunday!
