For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Holy Communion (Last Sunday before Advent: Christ the King)

This coming Sunday (November 24), we gather to enjoy a Service of Holy Communion together on this Last Sunday before Advent, which is also known as Christ the King Sunday.

Our Scripture readings this Sunday are remarkable passages from Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14 (where Daniel has a vision of the Messiah, a Son of Man, coming to do far better than the literally and beastly kingdoms that precede him, and having ultimate authority); Revelation 1:4b-8 (the hopeful and praise-filled opening of John’s vision, pointing to the firstborn from the dead who has freed us from sin and death, and who is coming); and then, in contrast, John 18:33-37 (when Pilate questions Jesus about who he is, and Jesus responds that His Kingdom is not how others think about theirs, but about peace and truth and so much more!).

As always, powerful passages, trying to keep us focused on the Good News of the Kingdom of God, for which we are grateful, and faithfully hopeful!

We will offer a children’s activity during the service, and after worship, we will share coffee, tea and fellowship together.

All welcome, and we very much look forward to being with you this Sunday!
