For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Holy Communion Service (17th Sunday after Trinity)

This coming Sunday (Sept 22), we gather to share a Service of Holy Communion together on this Seventeenth Sunday after Trinity.

Our Bible readings are from James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a (where James advocates for Godly wisdom, righteousness and solidarity, in the face of other temptations and challenges) and Mark 9:30-37 (when Jesus hears his disciples arguing amongst themselves about who is best, and he reminds them of his own coming sacrifice, which they did not yet understand, and the importance of humility and hospitality and service, taking a child as an example). These readings speak to our social and spiritual needs, and very much encourage us to seek God’s wisdom and Christ’s humility, in a world that is so easily distracted from these for its own purposes. Jesus calls us back to himself, to be changed and help him transform the world.

As usual, we will also be able to offer a children’s activity during the service.

And after worship, we will have coffee, tea and fellowship together, also with special thanks for the 10th anniversary of Grace Church Groningen, for which we will enjoy a special celebration of this. 🙂

All welcome, and we look forward to worshiping and sharing with you this Sunday!
