For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of Holy Communion (13th Sunday after Trinity)

This Sunday (August 25), we come together again to share a Service of Holy Communion together on this Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity.

Our readings are from Ephesians 6:10-20 (where Paul encourages fellow believers to stand up for God and have strength and comfort in the protection and motivation God alone provides, using the image of the armour of God) and from John 6:56-69 (after Jesus reveals he is the Bread of Life, some followers struggle with this concept, as well as his conveying that those who believe will feed on him and drink him, which again causes concern, even though Christ being such a powerful part of us, his disciples, is spiritually crucial!). Both readings use powerful metaphors to challenge us to think about our spiritual life in and for Christ, and encourage us to live more deeply in Him.

As ever, we will also offer a children’s activity during the service, and after worship, we will have coffee, tea and fellowship together.

All welcome, and we look forward to worshiping and sharing with you this Sunday!
