For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Grace Church Service of Holy Communion (Last Sunday after Trinity)

This coming Sunday (October 27), we gather to share a Service of Holy Communion together on this, the very Last Sunday after Trinity this year.

We aim to start at 10:30 am as usual, and please do note that the clocks are to go back an hour on Saturday night. 😉

This Last Sunday after Trinity is often celebrated as Bible Sunday, and we will, too, with thanks to the Lord’s care for us through the extraordinarily valuable teachings of Scripture!

Our preacher this Sunday is the Revd Canon Ruan Crew, Chaplain of Holy Trinity Utrecht and also Area Dean for the Netherlands, and we are delighted to welcome him again to Groningen!

Our Bible readings will be from 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5, where Paul encourages Timothy to have Scripture inform and inspire his evangelical ministry in a challenging and contentious context, and from John 5:36b-47, when Jesus explains that the works God has asked him to do sincerely testify to who he is, as does so much of Scripture, even though not all who hear accept and believe him immediately. But the Lord wants all to be with him!

We look forward to reflecting on all this, and praying and worshipping together.

We will try to offer a children’s activity during the service.

And after worship, we will share coffee, tea and fellowship.

All welcome, and we very much look forward to being with you this Sunday!
